CLOTHING AND JEWELLERY
CLOTHING:
The bronze age lasted for nearly two thousand years . Clothing disintegrates easily so the fashions of the time are left to our imaginations primarily. People probably still wore furs and skins to keep themselves warm in the wet Irish climate, but during the bronze they also had a new material, a crude linen woven out of flax, and they had started weaving cloth out of wool. They probably wore a tunic with a blanket cloak fastened with a bit of bone or a bronze pin. On their feet they may have worn leather footwear. They must have been interested in their appearances because bronze age razors and tweezers have been found.

Wonderful jewellery from the bronze age has been discovered in hoards all around the country. Many excavations have been carried out prior to the building of the major networks in Ireland and these excavations have unearthed a wealth of bronze age implements and jewellery. This jewellery can be categorised as:

- Early Bronze Age from 2400 bc to 1600 bc - lunalae and discs
- Middle Bronze Age 1600 bc to 1200 bc - twisted torcs for ears, neck, waist and arms
- Late Bronze Age 1200 bc to 600 bc - bracelets, dress fasteners, neck rings, hair fasteners and gorget collars
